NATURAL, PREDICTABLE CLIMATE CHANGE

Posted: 12th January 2012

Larry Bell writes at Forbes.com on an extensively peer-reviewed study published last December in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics which indicates that observed climate changes since 1850 are linked to cyclical, predictable, naturally occurring events in Earth’s solar system with little or no help from us.

WORST NYT STORY ON CLIMATE EVER?

Posted: 9th January 2012

Roger Pielke Jr comments at the Science and Public Polcy Institute website on reporting that ignores the facts or any sense of balance on multiple climate related issues.

Maybe the media are becoming more hyperbolic in an effort to keep interest in climate issues to the fore, although that has failed in most global media coverage - the exception being Australia.

EUROPE'S CARBON PRICE TUMBLES

Posted: 23rd December 2011

Europe's main weapon in the battle against climate change is now fighting for its own survival.

In early January, investors in the continent's cap-and-trade system still had to pay some euro14 ($18.30) for the right to emit one ton of carbon dioxide into the air. By last week, the price of one emission allowance had tumbled to a meager euro6.41 — making it much cheaper to pollute and slashing the financial incentives for companies to invest in low-carbon technologies.

POLAR BEARS ARE DOING VERY NICELY THANK YOU

Posted: 19th December 2011

Leading Russian scientists have rejected claims by their counterparts in the US that the polar bear is endangered by climate change.

The Russians have accused the Americans of skewing data to support claims that polar bears are drowning because of melting ice, and of treating bears cruelly during research.

The polar bear has emerged as a powerful symbol during the debate on global warming, with environmentalists warning that reduced Arctic ice due to climate change threatens the survival of the world's largest land predator.

The Russians are backed up by polar bear expert Dr Mitch Taylor in his submission [below] on the status of polar bears as far back as 2006.

CARTER ON MANNE

Posted: 19th December 2011

Professor Bob Carter writing at the ABC Drum website advises Professor Robert Manne what science is actually about.  If Professor Manne is so keen on the 'consensus' perhaps he could write another article explaining the dramatic reversal in public opinion on the issue of AGW in most Western democracies.
