MET BUREAU HELPS VICTORIA WARM

Anthony Watts tells of a retired school principal he met on his Australian tour who has an eye for graphs.  Ken, the school principal, was alarmed at a Bureau of Meteorology graph which showed a strong warming trend for Victoria.

PRICES RISE AS NZ PASSES ETS

Paul Chapman in Wellington for the U.K. Telegraph reports on the harsh reality of life for New Zealanders as they go it alone.

"The government has pressed ahead with plans to slash the nation's carbon output, despite widespread opposition and New Zealand's larger neighbour Australia shelving its own scheme.

Motorists were hit by a 3c (1.4p) rise in the price of a litre of petrol overnight, while householders face a 5 per cent increase in gas and electricity prices."

OCEAN ACIDIFICATION: THE 'EVIL TWIN' OF GLOBAL WARMING

Sherwood and Craig Idsho look at some recent claims of 'changing' ocean acidity.

 "This "steady acidification of the oceans is said by them to be yet another "insidious consequence of rising levels of atmospheric CO2," and that "evidence gathered over the last years suggests that ocean acidification could represent an equal (or perhaps even greater) threat to the biology of our planet." But is this really so?

"First, the factual error. The website links the claim of the “worst drought in the last millennium” to that noted scientific journal, the Guardian newspaper."
