CLIMATE COMMISSION NOT FAIR DINKUM ON CLIMATE RESPONSE
The Climate Commission released its latest report on August 21 taking great pains to demonstrate that Australia was not alone in 'taking action' on climate change.
The report highlighted we could be approaching a 'tipping point' with atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide, that if exceeded, would lead to catastrophic climate consequences.
If this scenario were to be accepted, as the Commission no doubt would like, then one would expect that radical solutions would be advanced by the Climate Commissioners, such as exploiting nuclear energy in Australia or building more dams for hydroelectricity generation.
Instead, enthusiastic support for marginal 'solutions' like wind and solar energy.
The Commission warns of a big problem and offers a solution that tinkers at the edges.
Anthony Cox writing at Online Opinion was not too impressed with some of their international comparisons.
The Australian Environment Foundation also thought the Climate Commission were not fair dinkum in presenting the threat and the supposed solutions.
